The fundamentals of time-frequency signal representations will be reviewed including DFT based approaches or the Rihaczek distribution. Gabor time-frequency signal analysis and synthesis is used to derive a representation being suitable for the sought for parametrization of signals at both the transmitter and the receiver of a wireless transmission system. In order to achieve an efficient architecture for the calculation of inner products, a constrained optimization problem including a relaxation is formulated which corresponds to a semidefinite programming. The aforementioned approach is applied to derive a generic baseband signal processing for flexible radios where an application is considered for UTRA FDD. Another application is spectrum sensing in cognitive radios where the approach is compared to standard schemes like e.g. Thomsons’s multitaper method. |
