The series of conferences about the Ultra-Wideband technologies started in 2002 under the umbrella of the IEEE MTT Society. The 2002 IEEE Conference on Ultra Wideband Systems and Technologies (UWBST02) was held in Baltimore, Maryland. The objective of UWBST02 was to bring together scientific researchers, engineers, students, technical managers and others from both industry and Government to present and discuss papers relating to the latest developments in UWB theory and applications. It was hoped that UWBST02 will be the first in a long series of IEEE-sponsored conferences devoted to this unique technology (see CfP). UWBST03 was held in Reston, Virginia, followed by a joint UWBST and IWUWBS 2004 in Kyoto, Japan. These two conferences where merged and renamed to ICU 2005 held in Zurich, Switzerland. A further name change was proposed for the adjacent ICUWB2006 held in Waltham, Massachusetts.
The ExCom has now decided to keep this name and logo for future conferences. It also has been decided to rotate the conference venues around the regions in a 3 year rhythm: Americas, Asia/Australia and Europe/Africa.
The objective of the ICUWB conferences is to bring together scientific researchers, engineers, students, technical managers and exhibitors from academia, industry and Government to present and discuss ideas relating to the latest developments in UWB theory, technology, systems and applications.
The ICUWB conferences cover all aspects of UWB technology including information theoretic limits, antennas and propagation, signal processing, circuits and systems, multi-access and coding as well as innovative applications and coexistence. Original papers are solicited describing cutting edge research as well as implementation issues and application experiences. Traditionally a strong participation both from industry and academics can be anticipated; this creates an exciting atmosphere for interdisciplinary discussions at the ICUWBs.
