p-cycle Protection in Wavelength Routed Networks

The concept of p-cycle protection (PCP) in virtual wavelength path (VWP) networks and the integer linear programming (ILP) approach are revisited. The specific problems in wavelength path (WP) networks in connection with (PCP) are discussed. The wavelength allocation (WA) schema has a significant impact on the capacity performance of PCP. A heuristic for jointWA and p-cycle search (PCS) is presented. The performance of the developed algorithm is investigated using a case study for a Pan-European network.
